About the graduate program

The Master of Mechanical Engineering degree is intended for students with undergraduate degrees in mechanical engineering or a closely related field. The Graduate Program in Mechanical Engineering at Federal Institute of São Paulo offers masters graduate course as well as post-doctoral positions. The program has completed 8 years of success trajectory in 2020.

The objective of the course is to graduate masters in Mechanical Engineering capable of working with the techniques used in the measurement, analysis, treatment and identification of parameters and variables necessary for modeling and development of materials and manufacturing processes. In addition, to encourage the development of scientific and technological research in the business sector, enabling the implementation and promotion of technological innovations, registration of trademarks and patents that come from applied research. The course also promotes the exchange of ideas between professors, researchers and professionals working in companies in the state of São Paulo - Brazil.

Fees

The course is free, with no monthly fees and registration fees for the selective process.

Admission

The admission processes of the master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering take place once a year and the calls are published in May.

For the application there is a specific notice, which will be published on this page, but in general the necessary documents are:

- An application form

- Official copies of the diplomas

- Resume

- University certificates

- A letter from your academic supervisor

- Draft project

The selection process consists basically in a draft project, interview and analysis of the applicant's CV. 20 places are offered for regular students and 15 places for non-regular students for the course. The program offers scholarships opportunities for the best master’s applicants.

Location

The course will be offered full time, from Monday to Friday (day or night) and, exceptionally, on Saturdays (daytime) at the São Paulo Campus, located at 625 Pedro Vicente, São Paulo, Brazil.

Academic areas

Materials - Multidisciplinary research in Materials Science and Engineering is carried out, aiming at synthesis, analysis, characterization, modeling, development, and protection of materials used in the productive sectors.

Bioengineering and Biomaterials - This line of research aims at the development and application of Biomaterials in Bioengineering, Computer Simulation and Artificial Organs projects.

Manufacturing processes - The manufacturing processes involved in the transformation of metallic, polymeric, and ceramic materials are studied. The relationship between the transformation process, structure and properties is emphasized.

Automation and Manufacturing Integration - In this line, the concern is with the development of industrial automation technologies that require a systemic and multidisciplinary vision, with a solid theoretical basis, involving the various areas of engineering and information technology.
